Winter Blues Party

What a great Winter Blues Party it was on Sunday, January 15 at the Ramada Bismarck Hotel.  100 Bismarck/Mandan Blues fans were witness to one of the best ever Blues shows in Bismarck/Mandan history!

The legendary Richard Torrance and Friends opened the show and performed a great hour long set of Blues standards along with Richards biggest hit - Rio De Janeiro Blue. The friends consisted of Kevin Holm on drums, Peder Gulleson on keyboard, Eric Kubischta on guitar and Rick Berge on bass. This great group of Bismarck/Mandan musicians could have "headlined" the show in their own right, they were cookin' right from the start and no doubt set the tone for the night!

Headline act The Norman Jackson Band came in highly-touted from Springfieild, Missouri after finishing in 3rd place at the 2016 International Blues Challenge held annually in Memphis, TN.  This skilled group of musicians proved to be rock-solid and not only great musicians, but were quite simply the best showmen that I have witnessed in my 12 years on bringing in Regional and National acts to BismarckMandan.  Norman Jacksons honest storytelling, his stunning vocals were spot on all night and his old school style of guitar playing made him ooze nothing but the Blues all night long.  Rick Shortt on saxaphone.....what more can be said, I have personally in all my days of going to hundreds and hundreds of all types of rock and Blues concerts, have never witnessed anyone quite like Rick, He gave 110% all night, his saxaphone skills are not only top notch, but his crowd involvement skills make him one of a kind. For those there, they saw Rick all over the building, on chairs, on tables......he did it all!  The Norman Jackson Band will return to Bismarck.....DO NOT miss them next time!

Special Thanks also go out to Correy Pearce and Crosstown Productions for the incredible sound and lighting rig......look him up if you ever need a true professional!

Thanks to all of you that attended. I was very honored and touched for the warm welcome everyone gave me during the show.

*Take note that Steamer Promotions has a couple more shows in the works. The Rockin' Jake Blues Band on May 27th and July 15 will see the return of the Skyla Burrell Band.

Thank You to the Ramada Bismarck Hotel, Crosstown Productions and the Bismarck Tribune for helping Steamer "keep the Blues alive"!
