background / biography
When I was about five me dad came home with a box of 78 records and we started checking them out,
I picked up one with a blue label and asked him what this one sounded like, he read it and said Muddy Waters and put it on, he only played about thirty sounds of it and pulled it off and threw it away.

But that sound never left me, I looked for years as I grew and started playing drums trying to find out what that sound was, by the time I was seventeen a friend of mine handed me a tape called “Raw Blues” and wham there it was, that sound. Now I was born in 1961 in Joliet Illinois just south of Chicago but my family was all country so I knew nothing about blues except for thirty seconds of a Muddy Waters tune.

In 1981 I was playing in a band called Bad Reputation at Scotties in Chicago, my wife was sitting at our table while we played, she said this black guy came in and everyone was making a big deal about him, he went over and sat at our table a bought her a beer and asked her about the band that was playing, he finished his beer and left. When we went on break my wife said this guy named Muddy something was asking about you guys, I said Muddy Waters she said ya that’s his name. Now how cool is that.

I got to see Johnny Shines and Albert Collins play before they  died, I seen John Hammond and Koko Taylor and last year our band En Gedi played at the King Biscuit Festival in Helena ,AR where we seen Pine Top Perkins.

In 1998 the Lord came into my heart and in 1999 Nathan and I started En Gedi, we have tried over the years to play other stuff but our hearts are all blues, even some of are rock tunes people say are blues, but that’s cool with us, cause blues aint  about felling bad blues is about feeling good.
