Events at the Civic Center

FINALLY it appears that the Civic Center is going to be used for more than Wizards games, Ag Shows, Rodeos and Monster Trucks. The new management seems to be heading in the right direction. Starting with the July 29th Puddle of Mudd/ Rev Theory/ Saving Abel concert followed by comidian Jeff Dunham on August 2nd and author, humorist Garrison Keillor on August 14th. Then on October 16th the crazy comedy of Carlos Mencia. There is also another concert in August that is signed but yet to be announced. Put this together with events like the Downtowners Ribfest and Broadway in Bismarck and maybe the Bismarck Civic Center is FINALLY going to see a wider variety of uses than we have grown accustomed to here in the BisMan area.

Jaycees Parade Seeking Marching Bands and Live Music

Parades and marching bands go hand in hand and the Mandan Jaycees Fourth of July Parade is no different. That s why the Mandan Jaycees Fourth of July Parade is seeking marching bands, garage bands, kitchen bands, old time music bands and other live bands to perform during the state s largest parade. Performers such as the Mandan Braves Marching Band and Freight-Train Todd Haugen are very welcomed attractions for our parade each year, said Ray Morrell, Jaycees Parade Director. However, North Dakota does not have a summer marching band program. Area schools are reluctant to commit their marching band because they may not be able to guarantee the number of students that will actually participate during the Fourth of July. This brings an additional challenge to secure marching bands. Summer marching band programs provides educational incentives for high school music students. Parade organizers are seeking more than the proverbial 76 trombones and are not limiting music entries to just marching bands. Live music will be accepted from steel drum groups, old time music entertainers, area bands and other forms of musical entertainment. Parade officials have been working with other organizations and communities to encourage the participation of live music and marching bands. The theme for this year s Mandan Jaycees Fourth of July Parade is And the Beat Goes On . For more information, log on to www.mandanparade.com or email info@mandanparade.com.

Hello all out in BisMan land!!!! With some new faces starting to pop up here on Bismanlive, I have a question for the artists with original material. Would there be any interest in having the ability to sell your digital downloads directly from Bismanlive? There is a totally secure module (software) that I can add to the site to enable digital downloads. Your media is secure until payment is made then the user gets access to the file. This media can be songs/video/images. If interested in something like this please contact me.
