2013 Dakota Classic Tour

The 25th Annual Kupper Chevrolet Dakota Classic Modified Tour dates and locations have been set for 2014. Despite multiple requests to expand the Tour into neighboring states, the six cooperating tracks that make up the Tour have decided to keep the traditional locations with some changing of locations to work around the ND State Fair and Stutsman County Fair. IMCA Modifieds and IMCA Stock Cars will be on the program at all tracks. Kupper Chevrolet of Mandan will be providing the $2,000 Modified and $1,000 points funds for the top 10 in series points.
Minot, ND will once again host the opening night of the series on Sunday, July 6. Minot, ND and Nodak Speedway were one of the original Tour tracks when the series started in 1990. On Monday, July 7, the series heads north of the international border to Estevan, Saskatchewan and the Estevan Motor Speedway. Williston, ND and the Williston Basin Speedway will host night #3 of the Tour on Tuesday, July 8. On Wednesday, July 9, the series heads south to the Southwest Speedway in Dickinson, ND. Dacotah Speedway in Mandan, ND was one of the original Tour tracks and they have the Thursday, July 10 date this year. The Tour wraps up its six consecutive day run in Jamestown, ND on Friday, July 11 at the Jamestown, Speedway.
Payouts were increased once again to make the 2014 Tour set another record. The winner of the Modified feature will receive $1,700 at all six tracks. The IMCA Stock Car winner will receive $800 to win the feature. Both divisions will award the big ceremonial 1st Place checks to all feature winners at all tracks. This year the drivers will get to keep the ceremonial checks.
Dale McEwen of Winnipeg will return to flag the entire series that uses identical formats, payouts and registration fees at all six tracks. IMCA rules in both the Modified and Stock car divisions will be used as they have in the past. With all of Montana and two western Minnesota tracks going to IMCA modified sanctioning for 2014, the Tour expects to attract even more cars and fans next year.
Series founder John Gartner will once again be the Tour Director and promote the Jamestown Tour event. He can be reached at (701) 202-6075.

2013 Dakota Classic Tour

Online Registration for the 24th Annual Kupper Chevrolet Dakota Classic Modified Tour July 6-11, 2013 is now open on the Tour’s official website:  There is no fee to register and the growing popularity of online registration saves time when driver’s sign in at the first race in Jamestown, ND on Saturday, July 6.

The online registration is then forwarded to the six tracks that make up the Tour so they have names, addresses, and car numbers for their fans and local newspapers. Since the entire Tour will be broadcast on XSAN TV, a list of participants will also allow for a more accurate description of the many out of state entrants while allowing our Tour announcing team and website a heads up before the series starts. In addition, online registration gives the Tour important information concerning the many duplicate numbers they will have to process.

The Tour will also be announcing an updated enhanced payout schedule soon on the website as additional sponsor funds have been secured by the series. At this date the series will pay $1600 to win at each of the six consecutive IMCA Modified programs, with $300 paid to start the 26 car feature at each venue. The IMCA Stock Car features will each pay $800 to win, with $100 paid to start the 20 car features.

For more information drivers or fans are encouraged to visit the website or call Tour Director John Gartner at (701) 202-6075.

2013 Dakota Classic Tour

MANDAN, ND-The six cooperating tracks which make up the Dakota Classic Modified Tour have released their dates and locations for the upcoming series. This year a new track that was one of the original Tour tracks in 1990 when the long standing series was created--Jamestown Speedway--has been added to the series eliminating the double header at one track that has been a staple of the Tour for many years. Once again, the series will feature IMCA Modifieds and IMCA Stock Cars.

The series will start on Saturday, July 6, 2013, at Jamestown Speedway in Jamestown, ND. The track will be leased to Tour Director John Gartner as a private promotion. The next night the series heads north to Nodak Speedway in Minot, ND, on Sunday, July 7. On Monday, July 8, the Tour heads just north of the US Canadian border at Estevan Motor Speedway, in Estevan, Saskatchewan. The booming city of Williston, ND and the Williston Basin Speedway is next up on Tuesday, July 9. On Wednesday, July 10, its south to the Southwest Speedway in Dickinson, ND. The series wraps up its six consecutive night swing with Championship Night at Dacotah Speedway in Mandan, ND, on Thursday, July 11.

The same rules, procedures, flagman, announcers and IMCA’s national tech inspector will again be a part of the series. Another record purse that features added payout in specific positions gained by additional sponsorship in the growing Bakken oil field will be released at a later date, along with contingency prizes and a points fund generated for both classes.

Racers and fans seeking hotel rooms should book early as there is still a shortage of rooms, despite many new hotel chains moving into the area. For more information call John Gartner at (701) 202-6075, or email at
