During the recent Dakota Trackside Classic Modified Tour drivers helped raise funds for organizations that are involved in the ongoing flood fight/recovery on the Souris and Missouri Rivers. In Estevan, Sask., $1066.00 was raised for the Canadian Red Cross and local Salvation Army in Estevan. Estevan Motor Speedway then made a $1000.00 contribution to be shared by both organizations for a total of $2066.00. Southwest Speedway in Dickinson and Dacotah Speedway in Mandan sent drivers into the grandstands during their Tour races as well. They split their funds to go to flood relief in Minot and the Mandan-Bismarck area. A total of $2486.25 was raised at the two tracks. Dacotah Speedway will be presenting $1243.12 to the Western Dakota Red Cross at their Governors Stock Car Classic race this weekend. The other half will go to an organization that is helping the flood recovery efforts in Minot. The Nodak Race Club in Minot will make the determination as to which organization will receive the funds. Their club is now undertaking the monumental task of rebuilding their racetrack after materials from the track were used to protect the new grandstand on the North Dakota State Fairgrounds. They hope to hold their first race after the flood on August 13, according to Nodak Race Club’s Vice President Lindsay Lawson. The Tour wishes to thank the drivers and fans who contributed to the fund raising efforts. |
