2012 Dakota Classic Tour

The Dakota Trackside Classic Modified Tour—with IMCA Stock
Cars--has partnered up with Kupper Chevrolet in Mandan to put more cash in
the feature winner’s pockets for both the IMCA Modified and Stock Car
divisions at five tracks in North Dakota and Estevan, Sask.  North
Dakota’s largest volume Chevrolet dealer will pay an additional $100 bill
to the Modified feature winner, as well as a $50 bill to the Stock Car
feature winner in cash at all feature events during the six night run July
8-13. The additional payout guarantees yet another record purse payout for
the 23rd annual event, while adding to what looks like a banner year for
contingency prizes for drivers.

“Bob Kupper has an outstanding record of support for racing at the Mandan
track and this expansion with the five tracks that make up the Tour is a
natural in this area of rapidly expanding oil development in the state,”
according to Tour Director John Gartner. The Tour has an aggressive
marketing plan developed to work with local, regional, and national
sponsors to provide cash and contingency awards to augment the large
nightly purse paid at each track.  More announcements will be made in the
coming weeks.

DAKOTA TRACKSIDE CLASSIC MODIFIED TOUR 2012 DATES/LOCATIONS ANNOUNCED

MANDAN, ND--The 2012 dates and locations for the 23rd Annual Dakota Trackside Classic Modified Tour-with IMCA Stock Cars--have been agreed upon at the cooperating tracks recent meeting in New Town, ND. The series will once again be an all IMCA sanctioned format for the two touring divisions-- IMCA Modifieds and IMCA Stock Cars.

The series starts with a double-header at Nodak Speedway in Minot, ND on SUnday/Monday July 8-9. Minot was not part of the Tour last year after a massive flood forced officials to use the Speedway's clay surface for critical dike material to protect the fairgrounds complex. The high banked 3/8 mile track was reconstructed after the flood and is ready to go for the 2012 season.

The third consecutive night on the Tour takes a trip across the border to Estevan, SK and the 3/8 mile high banked Estevan Motor Speedway on Tuesday, July 10. US IMCA points will be awarded to all drivers who compete.

On Wednesday, July 11, the series heads back to the US and the 1/4 mile Williston Basin Speeday. Willisto, ND has a booming economy due to the oil play in the rich Bakken formation, so standing room only crowds will now get a new elevated grandstand in time for the Tour.

Thursday, July 12, it's south through the beautiful ND Badlands and the 1/4 mile Southwest Speedway at Dickinson, ND. Expect to see some of the tightest racing on the Tour at the smallest track on the series.

On Friday, the six nights series wraps up its run with Championship Night for both classes July 13 at the 3/8 mile Dacotah Speedway in Mandan, ND. With a huge local car count taking on the alwayts big travelers, the last race of the Tour always produces great racing.

The same procedures and flagman will be used at all tracks and Tour Director John Gartner will once again coordinate every night of the series.

IMCA's National Tech inspector is expected to make sure the playing field is level for all competitors. The cooperating tracks also approved its best ever payout with a purse that pays $300 to start the 26 car modified feature. Identical registration and pit fees were approved that are some of the lowest in the nation. All tracks use AMB transponders and Raceievers.

Drivers who are planning on entering should secure motel rooms early at all tracks as the expanding oil boom has now engulfed the entire region, making rooms difficults to secure.

TOUR FUND DRIVE RAISES $4552.50 FOR FLOOD RELIEF AT THREE TOUR CITIES

2011 Dakota Classic Tour

During the recent Dakota Trackside Classic Modified Tour drivers helped raise funds for organizations that are involved in the ongoing flood fight/recovery on the Souris and Missouri Rivers. In Estevan, Sask., $1066.00 was raised for the Canadian Red Cross and local Salvation Army in Estevan. Estevan Motor Speedway then made a $1000.00 contribution to be shared by both organizations for a total of $2066.00.

Southwest Speedway in Dickinson and Dacotah Speedway in Mandan sent drivers into the grandstands during their Tour races as well. They split their funds to go to flood relief in Minot and the Mandan-Bismarck area.  A total of $2486.25 was raised at the two tracks. Dacotah Speedway will be presenting $1243.12 to the Western Dakota Red Cross at their Governors Stock Car Classic race this weekend. The other half will go to an organization that is helping the flood recovery efforts in Minot. The Nodak Race Club in Minot will make the determination as to which organization will receive the funds.  Their club is now undertaking the monumental task of rebuilding their racetrack after materials from the track were used to protect the new grandstand on the North Dakota State Fairgrounds. They hope to hold their first race after the flood on August 13, according to Nodak Race Club’s Vice President Lindsay Lawson.

The Tour wishes to thank the drivers and fans who contributed to the fund raising efforts.
